This morning, as most of us were sleeping, or getting in from last night, the miltary were taking part in the final rehearsal for Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding on Friday. The rehearsal started at [shudder] 4.30 am and went through till dawn. But just look at what was greeting them as they practiced walking down the aisle. Why, it’s an indoor forest!
Yesterday evening, the flowers and foliage started to arrive in Westminster Abbey and: we LOVE it! Now, the idea of an ‘indoor forest’ could sound faintly naff, admittedly, but the grand setting of Westminster Abbey lends itself to big gestures – including eight 20 foot English maple trees and approximately four tons of foliage, which Kate has ordered in consultation with her floral designer Shane Connolly.
We’re, like, totes impressed with Kate and William’s decision to have live trees in the Abbey, partly because it’s a world away from the stuffy image of royal weddings being all peach roses and trailing ivy, but ALSO because it suggests to Grazia Daily that all our suspicions concerning Kate’s dress (feminine, low-key, possibly lace) and hair (down, possibly with flowers) are going to be SPOT. ON.
