Things are looking up for Tom Ford. Yesterday the Texan smoothy's image was being used to shift second hand cars; this morning he's been nominated onto TIME magazine's annual 100 list - featuring the magazine's readers' nominations for "the most influential people in the world".
And why has the fashion designer/film director been deemed worthy of this honour? Nice manners, apparently. Rita Wilson, actress, producer (and Mrs Tom Hanks) who walked in the S/S '11 show, wrote the magazine's tribute to Mr Ford, focusing on his old-fashioned charms; 'Tom has manners that are rare these days...Handwritten notes are common for the man who wore a three-piece suit every day while directing his visionary first film, "A Single Man."'
WWD reports Ford is the the only fashion industry player to make this year’s list; Marc Jacobs appeared on TIME's Top 100 last year. Michelle Obama, Mark Zuckerberg, Snooki, Gwyneth Paltrow and Charlie Sheen were also featured.
