It's not open yet, but it will look like this when finished (on sunny days)

Roll up, roll up for the greatest show on Earth, or at least the greatest shopping centre very close to the greatest show on Earth - will be opening in a mere five months! Yep, the new Westfield centre, located in Stratford in deepest East London, WON’T be called Eastfield, (something to do with trademarks apparently) but it will form the ‘Gateway to the 2012 Olympics’!

Westfield Stratford City will comprise 1.9million square feet of retail, leisure and business destination; that’s shopping and scoffing, to you and I, and will require a whole day, we suspect, for a full recce any time after September 2011 when the shopping centre to end all shopping centres opens its doors.

Inside the temple of shopping you’ll find 300 dynamic new brands, over 50 places to dine, a 14-screen, all digital Vue cinema, the UK’s largest casino operated by Aspers, three hotels, a bowling alley and central events and entertainment spaces.

The scheme is anchored by John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and Waitrose on each corner and due to the amount of development in this (rather run down at present) corner of London, there will even be new transport links to make it easier to get to and from this shopping Mecca from inner London, as well as the zillions that will flock here via the roads from surrounding areas like Essex.
