Her birthday was actually, yesterday, 14th April, but we couldn’t resist sending special belated Grazia Daily happy returns to her today. Born in 1941 in Anglesey in Wales, it was always fashion she loved, and her route into that world was via modelling, after winning a “Young Model” competition.
Before she made the jump to superstar stylist, she enjoyed being quite the girl about town in Sixties London. One of the first to model the revolutionary Vidal Sassoon modernist bob, we imagine her roaring up and down the King’s Road in a succession of fast cars with even faster men.
Her career at Vogue has been a long one, producing hundreds of the most breathtakingly beautiful pages of fashion editorial ever, and earning her the distinction of being the only person able to stand up for herself to the fearsome Anna Wintour, her boss, contemporary and her magazine nemesis, as documented in the excellent film, The September Issue.
Please enjoy some of these fabulous pictures of Grace from 1962 till the present. Happy Birthday Grace!
