A/W ’11 Campaigns: The Scoop So Far!

13 April 2011

Just as we’re getting to grips with our first bare-legged days of Spring, fash-land is looking ahead to Autumn/Winter 2011. That’s right, darlings, it’s nearly time for the torrent of next season’s campaigns to hit the stands, so we’ve helpfully compiled all the juicy leaks and sneak peeks to give you a taster of what’s to come...

Isabeli Fontana donna karanIsabeli Fontana donna karan

We begin with Isabeli Fontana who is sweeping up the most star appearances so far. We already know Escada have employed her Brazilian charms, rumours are swirling that Bottega Veneta have also booked her and earlier this week, we spotted the brunette beauty posing in front of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin’s lense for Donna Karan’s campaign [above]. Coming over all Hitchcock heroine-meets-Blair Waldorf, Fontana (who began her career as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, dontcha know) teaches us how to work an all-neutral palette teamed with slicked-back hair while skulking about the New York streets. How faa-bulous!

Onto Versace, the legendary Mario Testino will not be shooting the fashion powerhouse’s latest campaign, despite being the main man for the past eight seasons, because Donatella has decided to give the A/W honours to Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott instead. Eeek. And while originally there was buzz that a bevy of beautiful girls, including Candice Swanepoel and Daphne Groeneveld were lined up, one model with ‘short dark hair’ who is a ‘cover star’ has now been thrown into the Versace mix. Bets are on Saskia de Brauw’s androgynous prettiness, which Carine Roitfeld utilised for her final French Vogue cover. A fine choice for a bit of edge, we say.

Meanwhile, Fashionologie reports that Louis Vuitton’s ad, shot in New York by Steven Meisel and styled by Karl Templer, is also done and dusted. So what has Marc Jacobs dreamt up this time? The delicious sight of Kate Moss puffing on a ciggie and swathed in fetish clobber a la Paris Fashion Week, perhaps? Apparently, non. In fact – horror of all horrors! – zero supermodels will be featured in the campaign. Instead, we’ll be treated to six up-and-comers from the current generation of catwalkers – girls who are ‘a bit new’, apparently, like Fei Fei Sun and, yet again, the gorgeous Groeneveld. How refreshing!

BUT, following in the footsteps of Scarlett Johansson and Olivia Palermo, rumour has it we will be seeing ol’ Mossy striking a pose for Mango’s A/W’11 campaign. Huzzah! Photographer Terry Richardson has already whetted our appetite with a hoard of black and white shots posted on his blog featuring Kate in Paris yesterday, dressed in her fave YSL jacket and Ray Bans, pouting in front of mirrors, modelling books and looking generally well, cheekboney.

We’re also reliably informed (via er, Facebook) that Juergen Teller shot Moschino’s ad yesterday at Turin's Ristorante del Cambio. This leaked shot sees a sharp-looking Irina Kulikova showcasing one of Rossella Jardini’s tailored navy jackets with a matching captain’s hat and, of course, those signature gold hoop earrings. LOVE!

Aaand for our final piece of campaign casting news, it’s another triumph for the industry's favourite Asian faces. Ralph Lauren has reportedly bagged Sui He, who opened the brand's most recent New York show, while Liu Wen – aka: the first Asian girl to walk in a Victoria’s Secret show, ever - will be starring in the upcoming Dolce & Gabbana campaign.

Don’t forget to stay tuned as we bring you the full results as and when the campaigns land...Excitement!
