After the excitement had finally worn off about being in the same room (on the same roof, to be more accurate) as Karl Lagerfeld, we got to wondering about Karl and his many times spent moonlighting for other companies – we mean, how on earth can he juggle producing six collections a year for Chanel plus travelling around the world to cut ribbons on new shops and shoot the campaigns and various “short films” for the women’s wear uberbrand with all the little side-projects?
Maybe the collection of Karl Klones at the Diet coke party is closer to the truth than anyone previously realised, as one website notches up a massive 26 recent collaborations with the Kaiser . . . .here are our favourite, Lagermouse, (above) Spongebob SquareKarl, a Karl teddy by Steiff and even Karl’s own character in Grand Theft Auto. Why is it we don’t have any trouble at all imagining him in the role of a sinister, animated villain? It must be something to do with the sunglasses.
