Roland Mouret & Claudia Schiffer to judge Fashion Fringe 2011!

07 April 2011

News just in! The Fashion Fringe judges have been announced, and it looks like it’s going to be one of the most glamorous line ups so far!  (No offence to Donatella Versace or John Galliano who are previous judges) with the extremely suave and dapper womenswear designer, Roland Mouret and the breathtakingly beautiful, ship-launching Claudia Schiffer! Yikes!

Fashion Fringe was set up a seven years back by Colin McDowell, to support young designers trying to make the jump from college to their own business. He said of the initiative; ‘Fashion Fringe spearheaded a movement to really help emerging designers when they really need it, which is when they first begin, with financial and technical knowhow.’ The prize for the award is a substantial sum towards business development, and this year the initiative is supported by online retailer very.co.uk for the first time.

The two new additions to the panel of judges sound tres excited to get stuck into the process. Claudia Schiffer said ‘I have watched Fashion Fringe grow from strength to strength over the past few years, and am delighted to be able to add my support this year. Fashion Fringe is a fantastic business platform for any aspiring designer, and I look forward to helping some of London’s creative design talent thrive and grow over the coming months.’ We had no idea she was such a fan, but any budding designer looking to get attention in the fashion marketplace would surely be thrilled to win the support of a supermodel like her.

As for M. Mouret, he’s more than ready to do his bit for the next generation of fashion designers; ‘It's not just exciting, but also very relevant to feel part of Fashion Fringe where so many young talents take their journey in this amazing, frustrating world of fashion. What's better than to have Colin McDowell as a Fairy God Mother?’

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves, Roland. The Fashion Fringe final takes the form of a catwalk show with the finalists’ collections during London Fashion Week in September.
