EXCELLENT news: as of yesterday, gothy-girly label of lust Rodarte is available on t’internet. Yay for that. The clever people at net-a-porter have snagged the label’s SS’11 collection, designed by sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy for themselves; and, of course, for the rest of us.
Pieces including the cult label’s ming vase inspired cornflower blue and white embroidered tulle and chiffon dress, and their honey coloured, vintage style silk boucle blouse are now available by simply clicking here.
For fans of a more tactile experience, Harvey Nichols (long-time stockist of the Mulleavy sisters’ label) have just launched the Rodarte SS’11 collection along with an awesome installation, created by set designer Fiona Leahy. The '70s themed installation is all gorgeous redwood walls and glass cases containing the current collection, because the sisters, who grew up in Northern California, say they were ‘surrounded by wood walls in old houses and redwood forests’ as children.
The installation also contains a six-seat cinema (perfect for a nice sit down) playing a short film starring Elle Fanning, which is projected directly onto the redwood walls. Grazia Daily TOTALLY called this film way back in the cold dark days of February, and sisters Kate and Laura describe the film as being ‘about this girl who exists in this strange place outside of time’ and who also, Grazia Daily notes, looks completely gorgeous in the new season Rodarte collection.
