Renee and Tommy Hilfiger for Breast Health Initiative

07 April 2011

Renee Zellweger has crossed sides from film into fash-on for her latest venture; a collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger in support of non-profit organisation Breast Health Initiative.

Zellweger was in Milan yesterday to launch the label’s new camel suede bag with gold hardware (which she models above, with a gorgeous red trench). The bag retails for $299, with an impressive $100 of that going directly to BHI. Zellweger described the initiative as being ‘very real, very direct, helping women in their personal struggles, buying a wig or allowing them to hire a babysitter or to take a taxi when they don’t feel like they can ride the bus.’

Talking at the press conference for the event (where she was snapped looking faboosh in an azure dress from the label’s summer collection) said she understood that ‘there’s a curiosity about people in films, music and entertainment, or those who are perceived as taste makers — what they are interested in, what they are wearing, where they are going. If this in some way can raise awareness about the initiative between Tommy Hilfiger and BHI, then great, all the better.’

Though she wasn’t keen to talk about her film roles at the press conference to launch the bag (preferring to talk about the charity itself) she did say that one of her most famous roles, Bridget Jones, had helped her promote the cause. ‘Bridget Jones is beloved. I made a lot of friends because of her. If women relate and she makes people curious, why, it’s one more gift’, she said.

Following the press conference, Renee attended a cocktail party at the Hilfiger flagship store, where she sported an emerald green cocktail dress (alsoo above) telling reporters beforehand ‘I’m excited about the dress I’ll be wearing tonight. I want to hear what you think of it, I love it’.

Well, Renee – the consensus at Grazia Daily is that you look gaw-geous.

And, *EXCLUSIVE!* Grazia Daily readers can sign up to be the first to know when the bag goes on sale at Yay!
