Elizabeth Taylor's diamond collection to be auctioned off?

According to an American magazine, Elizabeth Taylor’s massive collection of diamonds and vintage jewels will be auctioned by Christie’s. Although the auction house has not confirmed the report, it was always speculated during the actress’s life that they collection would be sold off to raise money for her beloved charities, as Elizabeth herself once said, the rocks would be ‘scattered around the four corners of the world.’

Friends of Elizabeth, who had seen the stash of treasures at her house, report that the movie star had ‘collection and collections, and rooms. She knew where every single piece was. [It was] amazing’. Indeed, the archive of rubies, rare pearls and diamonds is said to rival that of various royal households and was even put on display to the public in 2002, to raise money for an Aids charity.

The most notorious of all the jewels is the 33 carat Krupp diamond, bought for her by Richard Burton. She said at the time 'the Krupp was my prize for beating Richard at ping-pong', and it was his first present gift to her although he later went on to buy her even more extravagant sparklers, including “the Taj Mahal” and one so big it became known as the “Taylor Burton diamond”. Wow.
