The sun is shining, we’re a matter of hours away from the weekend and to add to our glee, we’ve got a bunch of gorgeous gowns to drool over. Because in New York City last night, a swanky soiree was underway for the YSL-sponsored premiere of Le Comte Ory at the Met Opera House. From stylish sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to model types including Claudia Schiffer and Raquel Zimmermann, the star-packed guest list is music to our ears, but who do you crown the Opera’s Best Dressed? Let’s investigate...
First to sashay her way past the paps was Claire Danes with that hot hubby of hers, Hugh Dancy. Unsurprisingly, the actress didn’t disappoint with an asymmetric floor-length black gown adorned with glittering embellishments from YSL's Edition Soir 2011 collection. Perfectly elegant for a night at the opera, dontcha think?
Claudia Schiffer and Raquel Zimmermann also opted for head-to-toe noir, both sporting sleek ladylike column gowns. Hats off to Zimmermann for pulling off YSL's funky S/S '11 smoking dress.
While black dresses stormed the event, Rebecca Hall stole the show with a vibrant splash of scarlet crepe and Emmy Rossum played up to the spring season wearing a draped jade gown, also accented by a satin belt with multicolored crystal embroidery, which complemented her violet leather heels and bold red lips. Gorgeous!
And finally, as you know, we’ve sternly berated the Olsens for their recent sloppy dressing so you can imagine our delight at seeing the pair already turning it around with ensembles that don’t fall into the oh-dear-god-did-you-get-dressed-in-the-dark category. Bravo YSL! Being the less barmy twin, Ashley’s combination of a demure shin-skimming jacquard dress and pointy heels, topped off with an emerald mink scarf is particularly fetching. The matchy-matchy Ozzy Osbourne sunnies and MK’s oversized waistcoat? Not so much.
But what say you? Was yesterday’s night at the opera a total tragedy or are you applauding these eveningwear delights? We’ll see you in the comments box below…
