Introducing Giovanna Battaglia, our latest Italian style crush

18 March 2011

Giovanna Battaglia, fashion editor of various Vogues – Vogue Pelle (shoes?) and now Vogue L’Uomo, which used to be Anna Dello Russo’s job - is gaining prominence on the street style/editor envy circuit. She’s got that amazing Italian style thing going – two parts classic to one part colourful/loopy.

Therefore Giovanna (surely the most facially beautiful of all the editrixes) has smooth, long dark hair, employs minimal makeup and has a thing about sleek tailoring. However, to provide a foil to all this sensibleness she’ll sport at leat one fun item per outfit. This structured miniskirt in tomato red, for example OR this Prada banana-print dress. Molto Josephine Baker!

What else can we tell you about the lovely Signora Battaglia? OK, she styles plenty of stuff for oversized glossy fashion bible, W, and she’s going to do even more work for them now, because apparently she is moving to New York to be closer to her boyfriend, a certain Mr Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld (yes, that is Carine’s impossibly handsome art dealer son).

Pins like a giraffe, one of the finest wardrobes in Europe AND a hunky French petit ami as well? We tell you, that ol’ LIFE ENVY is a real occupational hazard of our job.
