Modelling at fashion week is tough work. No, seriously, forget Bruno, it really is. Being pushed and pulled, poked and prodded, squeezed and pinched from 5am onwards is not fun (we even know that one of the runway’s most popular young girls had an awful allergic reaction to some major maquillage-work in Paris and had to go home - cripes). ‘Working it’ in super-high stilettos on a slippery runway 24/7 must be pretty exhausting; we get stroppy after running after a bus in platforms. But for all the sufferance, there are great moments too; massive fashion ones that a special girl can be a special part of; brilliant parties, adoring followers and probably a decent gift or two along the way. And because these super-beings are required to remain serious and strutt-some for the most part (Sonia Rykiel’s show exempt), to be privy to the fun off-duty times backstage is waaay cool. They aren’t always pouty, y’know. When the girls recognise a friendly face they’ll play up to the camera - which is why Jason Lloyd Evans (our stellar backstage photographer - the models adore him), always captures the best poses. But - Check. This. Out. Here’s a video to end the age-old myth that all models are just grumpy, huffy, mobile-phone throwing nightmares. Shot by Justin Wu (the hottest videographer around right now – not to be mixed up with NYC-based designer Jason Wu) for Asia’s leading high fashion department store, Lane Crawford, is a snapshot of Milan and Paris’s leading ladies acting in a very different role. We won’t describe the vid, that’ll totally ruin it, so just sit back and enjoy your chuckles!
