We've been waiting for this. WHO would be the first major designer to snap up the delectable Christina Hendricks to model for their label? Let's face it, we bet the Mad Men actress with the hourglass silhouette has turned down loads of modelling offers as her profile rises in Hollywood. Okay, so she's already modelled for London Fog, a raincoat label which has the kind of marketing budgets that in the past have pulled in big name stars like Gisele Bundchen and Eva Longoria to front its ad campaigns. But let's assume that was just for practice.
Because now, thrilling news reaches us that Hendricks has been shot for none other than fashion goddess Vivienne Westwood, who asked the actress to star in the new campaign for her jewellery collection, (which we're assuming she wore along with the designer's curve-enhancing clothing).
And it seems the flame haired beauty is already a fan of the erm, citrus haired designer, saying 'She is my favourite designer. As a young girl I would cut out pictures of her dresses from magazines, although I was never able to afford them....'Even now I only have one in my closet. The lovely thing now is that I can borrow them and they fit so well, unlike some designer clothes.’
We predict many more Westwood frocks appearing in Hendricks' closet - and we'd LOVE to see her wearing a gown by the British designer for the Oscars.
And now that plus size supermodel Crystal Renn has shrunk down to a more conventional model size, we reckon the path is clear for Hendricks to have a major (high) fashion moment. Now, let's start taking bets on whose catwalk she'll appear on first?
