Right this very moment, NYC is a-buzz with exciting, stylish going ons as Fashion Week continues to take over the city. Yesterday, Alexander Wang, Prabal Gurung and G-Star Raw showcased their A/W ‘11 treats, but which A-listers have been glamming up the FROW? Here's who...
We begin our surveillance with Grazia Daily’s favourite hobby: Alexa Watch. First, we spotted Miss Chung at the Christian Siriano show on Thursday looking as quirky-cool as ever thanks to an ankle-biting Deyrolle pour Opening Ceremony dress covered in a foxy fox print. She accessorised the look with with red Prada platforms, a classic quilted Chanel bag, a skinny waist-clinching black belt and a snug scarf nonchalantly draped about her neck. Oh, and that brilliant palm tree manicure, too. Brill skills!
Onto Friday’s Rag & Bone show where Alexa summed up the denim-based brand’s hipster aesthetic with an eclectic mix of polka dots, casual-cool jeans and a er, faux fur blue coat (a vintage find from Brick Lane, she reveals). That floppy hat is so hot right now for a splash of Seventies style. After the show, La Chung said she’s such a fan of the Brit-born designers because they appeal to her ‘tomboy’ instincts, ‘plus, they don't try too hard, which is appealing’ - a sentiment which sums up exactly what we love about you, Chungers.
Yesterday’s FROW outing saw AC go back to school for Rachel Antonoff’s presentation that, adorably, took place at New York’s LaGuardia High School. The models looked as sweet as can be with trombone-print dresses and plaid frocks while Alexa rocked out to tunes from the The Like in a highschool dance stylee. Her low-key ensemble consisted of more blue fluffiness courtesy of a cute jumper which she wore with a pair of denim cut offs, tights and lace-up ankle boots. Too cool for school? We think so.
Another Brit starlet making a more traditional FROW appearance was the lovely Gemma Arterton who, as the face of G-Star, was in NYC yesterday to take in the show before jetting back to our side of the pond for the BAFTAs tonight - what a busy lady she is! But our Gem can look glam at the drop of a hat – just add a mega beehive, a splash of leather (plus a seatbelt-like strap or two), and a saucy back-flash, and she’s good to go!
Yes, it's KiKi D! Just as we’d hoped, Kirsten Dunst was back to fashland in support of Band of Outsiders’ catwalk show on Saturday. Grazia Daily reported earlier this week that the A-list style icon is now modelling for the hipster-geek label so her kooky boy-girl outfit of a crisp white shirt + tailored trousers, topped off with pretty bowed heels and a slick of pink lippy, is a tres fitting choice, dontcha think?
Carine may be notably absent from this year’s NYFW but that doesn’t mean her equally-stylish offspring, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, can’t get suitably suited and booted for the shows. Here she is making like her mama’s mini-me in head-to-toe black at the Adam Fall show. And later that night, she cracked out a brilliant colour pop with this fiesty blue Pucci number for the ‘RETNA: The Hallelujah World Tour’ art exhibition opening, which she attended with her big bro. Go JRR!
Doing it for the Gossip Girl crew (um, where’s Leighton and Blake please?), Jessica Szohr tottered into the Rebecca Minkoff show in a haze of gorgeous khakiness contrasted with a chic black jacket. Very nicely done, dear, but please sort out that scraggy hair for next time.
And finally, it’s the surprise FROW appearance thus far: Julia Stiles. The actress (?) emerged from backstage at the Cynthia Rowley show to cause quite the stir thanks to her new fringe and that vibrant coral dress complete with circular cutouts that we're not entirely convinced about... You?
PS. Don't forget to stay tuned as we bring you more fashion juice direct from the FROW – and the catwalk (obv) - right here on Grazia Daily and on our Twitter feed too.
