NYFW: The Best Dressed New Yorkers!

10 February 2011

The Fashion Week bells are ring-a-dinging here at Grazia Towers, signalling the start of what’s bound to be a whirlwind month of champagne, canapes and lots and lots of clothes. Hurray! Today, the fun begins in Noo Yoik where the likes of Marc Jacobs and Jason Wu will be showcasing their A/W ‘11 offerings. But forget the trends for a minute please and consider instead the FROW romp which is about to kick-off. Because all the excitement would be meaningless without those best dressed hipsters bringing some A-list dazzle. No doubt their pap-grabbing outfits are good to go and there’ll be sunglasses and Starbucks a-plenty, so who can we expect to spot? Let us present to you the coolest kids on the NY block...

When you think New York cool, you think Chloe Sevigny, right? We can’t get enough of her signature kooky style and killer legs so we’re crossing all crossables that La Sev will be out in support of her fave designers in the coming week - namely Proenza Schouler and Rodarte.

Of course, the Olsen twins will be joining in the festivities now that they’re bonafide designers themselves and a double dose of their boho chic always works perfectly with the down-town buzz.

Doing it for the Brits, Agyness Deyn has become an honorary New Yorker since moving stateside a few years back. Her style has since got tougher and even more androgynous (see the sharp suit and boyish crop) but will that attitude be watching or walking this season?

Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester likes a FROW seat or two and luckily for her, designers are clamouring to give her one – and who can blame them? The Meest is fast proving herself to be a daring trendsetter, sporting NY-appropriate edgy ensembles and eye-popping designs that’ll separate her from the crowd and guarantee a stir among the fash pack.

Fashion Week wouldn't be complete without permanent Alexa-watch and considering NYC is her new home >sob< we have every faith Miss Chung will be crowned the Front Row Race Winner now that proceedings are underway. We just hope she'll be making her indelible mark not only at NYFW but on our side of the pond too.

Ah yes, we can always count on Leigh Lezark to hit Bryant Park with her sharp bob and black-on-black fashion fare. And considering she's one-third of the NYC-based DJ trio, The Misshapes, this is one girl who knows how to ride the scene with too-cool-for-school style.

No doubt our beloved Jessica Hart will be walking up a storm on the NY runways but we’re also itching to see more of her off-duty style on the city streets. C'mon, show us what you got...

Being the renowned style aficionado that she is, a Whitney Port sighting is guaranteed. Yep, she might be a golden LA girl at heart but Whitters has made herself a permanent fixture in the Big Apple so surely that bum of hers will be on many a VIP seat.

She was on the low-down in 2010 but Kirsten Dunst is back bigger and quirkier than ever this year thanks to mega deals with Band of Outsiders and Bulgari. She’s long been a muse to the Mulleavy sisters so can we expect to see her showing some support at Rodarte's NY show? Let's hope so.

And, of course, Olivia Palermo never fails to make our sartorial hearts skip a beat so Grazia Daily can’t wait to see what she’ll be pulling out of that wonderous wardrobe of hers this season. Whatever it is, we're certain it'll be polished Park Avenue Princess perfection >sigh<

So we want to hear which sartorial superstar you're looking forward to stalking watching this season? Will an unusual face surprise us? (hello Prince!) Which unexpected star will crash all four capitals? (naming no names, Kanye). And who'll emerge as NYFW's new FROW Queen? (Solange did a grand job for S/S’11). As ever, we’ll be watching!
