CONFIRMED! Mannish Arora to design for Paco Rabanne!

04 February 2011

Grazia Daily was RIGHT! Just at the end of last year, we brought you a rumour that Paco Rabanne’s comeback will be designed by ‘90’s wacktacular genius, Mannish Arora and today the news has been confirmed. Whooop! You will probably know Mannish Arora best from Katy Perry’s merry go round dress and Nicki Minaj’s tinsel scorpion creation.

The designer, who hails from India, is well known for his very unique, avant-garde designs in a riot of colours. The influence of his homeland is always mentioned the collections though there is always a futuristic feel to them, so it's not surprising he has been described as ‘Bollywood meets Blade Runner’. Paco Rabanne, meanwhile, was one of the defining brands of the Sixties – a designer who launched his space age brand in 1966 with a collection titled ‘12 Experimental and Unwearable Dresses in Contemporary Materials’ and whose shiny science fiction pieces epitomised the decade.

The brand already have a very strong perfume division, and re-launched the chainmail handbags last month in selected stockists like Barneys New York, Maxfield and Ikram in the U.S.; 10 Corso Como in Milan; Dover Street Market in London and Colette in Paris. We’re already looking forward to the first ready-to-wear collection, which will show in Paris this autumn, for the SS'12 season - and undoubtedly so is Nicki Minaj. Yay!
