Good old Daisy Lowe. We've just caught sight of the London hipster-slash-model flaunting her curvilicious credentials on the cover of ASOS magazine while championing the joys of having boobs, bottom and hips. Oh, how we heart her. ‘My dream is to see a lot more female shapes in ad campaigns when I look through magazines,’ the 22-year-old says, naming Lara Stone as her body-spiration. So, lowe and behold (chortle!), these dreamy, 70’s-inspired images, which appear in the March issue, are all about the curve...
As you can see, Pearl’s mini-me looks as sultry as ever, swathed in floaty crop tops teamed with figure-flattering swishy skirts and super-tight floral pants. Bootylicious, or what? ‘When I put those knickers on [above right], I really had a moment of going, “Oh god, I don’t know how to do this anymore,”’ she confesses. ‘But then I thought, “For god’s sake, stop being an idiot.” The female body is a beautiful thing.’ Hear, hear!
We already know from the range Ms Lowe designed for Morgan, which featured Catwoman-esque leather catsuits and thigh-skimming frocks, that she thinks women ‘with bigger bottoms and larger thighs’ are ‘so sexy’ - and this is one lady who knows how to prove it by showcasing her own trademark voluptuousness. Sexy, sexy, sexy, no?
While on the topic of anti-skinny minnies in fashionland, Daisy dares to wade into Renn-weight-gate. ‘My friend was working with Crystal Renn and said she thinks she’s only got a 38-inch hip,’ she points out. ‘Karl Lagerfeld said he was going to embrace her womanly shape and then he just put her face on the ad campaign.’ We’d love to see more too, Daize, although the Kaiser did put Renn on his catwalk - twice - so the shape revolution is certainly going strong.
So as a self-proclaimed ambassador, what’s next for Lowe’s curve crusade? ‘I’d love to do the Jean-Paul Gaultier and the Givenchy shows. Their appreciation of the female structure is amazing, the way they cater to a woman’s body is beautiful.’ And, of course, she’s got that swimwear line for Peacocks in the bag too, which promises to celebrate ‘the beautiful curves of Sophia Loren and the original pin up queen, Bettie Page’.
‘Real women have hips and an arse,’ Daisy asserts. And amen to that, sister! We recommend you watch the video below to see the real, gorgeous deal in action...
