Helena Bonham Carter speaks about her unique taste in shoes!

28 January 2011

Good old HBC. On behalf of everyone who likes satin evening gowns but yearns for a spot of individuality on the red carpet, she has appointed herself the unofficial Lady Gaga of the movie world. After all the discussion provoked by her ensemble at the Golden Globes earlier this month, Helena has at last spoken out to defend her outfit choices.

First of all, and contrary to all those sarcastic meanies who speculated that she may have got dressed in the dark, HBC replied;

‘Why not wear mismatching shoes? Who says we can’t? I was just having fun,' and went on; ‘for me, fashion is all about fantasy and putting unlikely things together. That’s what I love. I genuinely love dressing up.’

And fair enough, thinks Grazia Daily. And what else does Helena have to say for her fashion philosophy?

‘Sometimes I get it right and I sometimes I get it wrong,’ Bonham Carter, 44, told US magazine, PEOPLE. ‘But fashion is all about having fun. I think fashion has been hijacked by the fashion industry creating rules on what one should wear and I feel like breaking the mould and seeing that the world won’t crumble.’

Then, she posited that for her next award ceremony she may take the shoes and use them as a hat! Bring on the Oscars, we say.
