You may have noticed there's a leeetle thing called Couture Week going down in fash-land this week. Grazia Daily sent our faaabulous fashion assistant, Naomi Attwood, to sample the delights in Gay Paree so it goes without saying that (thanks to some nifty advice and fabulous frocks), she is the Bestest Dressed of them all. BUT a few celebrity types have been giving our Naomi a run for her money with their pretty FROW-worthy rags (damn those clever stylists!). Let's have them battle it out below...
The most magnificent show of the week thus far came courtesy of Chanel (natch) and, as ever, Karl's gals were out in force. Usual suspects Diane Kruger and Caroline Sieber did the Kaiser proud with their tres chic dresses - Diane's embellished number is from Chanel's A/W '10 couture collection, dontcha know - while a surprise appearance from Kirsten Dunst and her orange lipstick gave a kitch-glam twist to the proceedings.
Speaking of kookiness, you can always rely on the Brit pack in Paris to ditch the traditional tweed and we j'adore this dollop of waiter-esque monochrome chic brought to us by Janelle Monae and Alexa Chung >applause< Like Diane's look, Alexa's tuxedo-dress is one of Karl's A/W '10 couture creations but the bona fide style icon manages to bring her own splash of originality. And of course, Janelle is the latest lady to join the Chanel crew after M.Lagerfeld raved about the songstress when they met last month - and is it any wonder?
Going for a more laid-back vibe, we have this trio of Chanel-lovers. Poppy Delevigne worked her Sienna-esque boho vibe with wavy locks and a flirty frock teamed with stompy boots, Karen Elson - fresh from her sing-songing on the Etam catwalk - kept things simple with THE.VERY.SAME stripey dress Milla Jovovich wore to make it into last week's Fashion Jury, while Vanessa Paradis looked perfectly chilled in her roll-up jeans and no-fuss blazer.
As for the jazziest party of the week, we turn to last night's Gucci shindig for the Rue Royale Reopening where Jessica Alba and La Kruger seriously turned on the A-list charm. Sparkle? Fringing? Killer cheekbones? Check, check, check! We die.
Olivia Wilde and Gemma Arterton also brought their top-notch credentials. We are loving those rich brights on your S/S '11 jumpsuit, Ms Wilde! Could this be the new one-to-watch on the fashion block?
Poppy and Caroline were back for the evening fun and upped the sexiness with fierce black numbers jazzed up by a flash of leopard print (on Poppy's bag) and girlie pink (on Caroline's glorious heels), while Yasmin le Bon stuck to the elegant benefits of minimalism.
And hurrah for an EIC fash-off! Emmanuelle Alt (aka: the new French Vogue editor) came face to face with Carine Roitfeld (ex-French Vogue editor). Yeah yeah, they're probably still chummy chums despite the usurption but we're secretly hoping for an almightly black-on-black goth clash * squeals *
But there's more! Rewind to Monday afternoon when Armani's FROW was packed with Hollywood glitz. Olivia made her sparkling debut at high-glamour couture wearing this sleek and sophisticated curve-hugger while Jodie Foster went super-smart with noir satin and ruffles. How delightful!
At Etam, Natalia Vodianova stayed true to the show's underwear theme with some saucy lacy leggings made a tad more business-like with an oversized tux jacket while Alexa Chung was at the other end of the spectrum by going dotty in an adorable frock of (very on-trend) midi-length. As for Lou Doillon, she did what she does best: scruffy chic. And those, er, velvet trousers?
And lastly, we save a special spot for Kate Moss who's been trotting around the streets of Paris in either glamour puss galore (see the furry yeti coat over ladylike white shift) to Puss in Boots cool (city shorts with wide-brimmed fedora). Yep, she's still got it...
Don't forget to stay tuned, lovelies, as we bring you more of the best looks from couture - on and off the catwalk!
