Oh. My. Days. Last night at the Grand Palais in Paris (within sight of the Champs Elysee) Etam held their brilliant indoor pop festival, err sorry, that should say catwalk show.
Six separate collections of under, swim and sleepwear were debuted, as models paraded around a giant stage with an elevated runway, down which not clothes, but REAL LIFE POPSTARS kept appearing - Beth Ditto, The Kills, Janelle Monae, Karen Elson with her accoustic guitar and Boy George singing ALL accompanied by Mark Ronson on a giant red and white drum machine with his band Business Intl.
AMAZE. There was one other thing that came close to matching the starriness of the musical lineup - the FROW of course. In front of Grazia Daily were perched Alexa Chung, Lou Doillon, ADR, Kate Moss (watching fiance Jamie Hince strum on stage with his bandamte Alison) Stefano Pilati (no corduroy though - he'd gone for a smart suit instead). Alexa said she was in Paris for Chanel couture the next day and that she came to Etam 'because it's nice to keep up with what's going on'. Indeed Alexa.
On another section sat Natalia Vodianova, who had designed one of the collections, with her friend Mario Testino. Futher along were Eva Herzigová, Christian Louboutin and even more that we've lost count of. Needless to say we didn't know WHERE to look, but we can't imagine that very much attention was paid to the knickers and finery on display - APART perhaps from the model dressed (or undressed) as Marie Antoinette and carrying a live lamb. (yes, you read that correctly).
Oh, and the other fun part was staring at M. Louboutin every time a model had to take off her shoes or tottered especially precariously (all the footwear was Louboutin) but his face was inscrutable. Later on that night a glittering party was held at the Ritz where we all drank champagne as if we were Mrs Antoinette herself on the night before the day of the guillotine.
