Dover Street Market Gets Ready for Spring!

19 January 2011

If you went down to the Market today – Dover Street Market that is, you’re in for a big surprise! Closed for three days to allow its bi-annual Tachiagari (meaning ‘beginning’ in Japanese) makeover to take place, the groundbreaking London emporium is fresh, reopened last Saturday, all fresh and ready for spring! If only we were so organized with our own wardrobes!

This being Dover Street Market however, the brainchild of Comme des Garcons designer Rei Kawakubo and her husband Adrian Joffe, this wasn’t a quick spring-clean. Designers were invited to design and curate their own spaces with many of them being there in person to literally set everything up and theme-wise, anything goes! For Spring-Summer, Phoebe Philo installed the Céline space on the second floor and Lanvin’s tres adorable Alber Elbaz came up with a fun chess theme. Black and white and bright bright red? We like.

There’s plenty for the boyfriend to wander around and browse while you swoon over the Nicholas Kirkwood display and in addition to Comme des Garcons’ own collection, this season sees an exclusive collaboration with the iconic French label Paco Rabanne who have taken over the store’s windows to showcase their iconic le69 bag!

Happy browsing!
