Let The VB Maternity Wear Watch Begin!

With the happy news that VB will be adding a fourth child to the Beckham Brood, Grazia HQ has, naturally, been whipped into a whirl of excitement. Will Victoria have the daughter she’s long hoped for? Will she name her offspring after the place of conception? And – question of all questions – can Baby Beckham #4 be more fashionable than Suri Cruise? (with a whole Hermes collection to inherit, we’re going to say a confident yes). Frustratingly, we’ll have to wait until summer for the answers to these conundrums so, to keep us entertained 'till then, let Grazia Daily be the first to commence Maternity Wear Watch!

Let's begin with Mrs B’s most recent ensembles, which have mainly derived from her assortment of coats. Yes, ok, she has been sensibly wrapping up against the winter chill but the cover-ups are also the perfect way to conceal a growing baby bump, no? At the Sports Personality of the Year Awards earlier this month, she chose a camel coat from Alexander McQueen’s Resort 2011 collection, teamed with sturdier-than-usual Brian Atwood heels, and when jetting in for November’s British Fashion Awards, she worked a cosy Giambattista Valli number. But with awards season in sight, she's facing the same dilemma as Natalie Portman - what's a pregnant gal to wear to all those glitzy parties and dressy shindigs? EEEP!

It’s no secret Victoria is a fan of sporting her own designs, but will she continue to do so avec baby bump? Her creations aren’t exactly known to suit those with a swelling tummy; the signature sleek sheaths tend to require a super-svelte figure. However, her most recent presentation proved that our Vic's style has loosened somewhat as parachute silk dresses strutted down the catwalk. (was all this part of her master plan, we wonder?)

One thing’s for sure, the ultraviolet number above would be just the ticket for a be-bumped VB. The knotted detailing is a pretty adornment on a ballooning belly and the fluid draping is a flattering way to make the most of your curves. We’re also placing our bets on this two-tone silvery stunner that provides enough room and sparkle for a pregnant glamour puss. Or, for some evening-wear elegance, perhaps she’ll opt for this white tent-esque floor-sweeper that’ll glide over her tum, granted she leaves the waist-clinching belt at home...

Besides, her red carpet turn at the BFAs proves staying stylish while promoting your wares will be a doodle for Vicky B. At the ceremony (when her baby bump had only begun to bloom), she looked resplendent in one of her baggy(er), yet still-slinky, dresses from the same S/S ‘11 collection. The daring thigh-flash steers the look away from boring dressing-gown territory while keeping it on the right side of sexy.

Oh, and lest we forget that Victoria has a whole handbag line at her disposal now, designed by her own fair hand, no less. What perfect timing! So in the same way that Grace Kelly used her Kelly bag as a form of "modesty shield", we're sure VB's boxy creations (above) will serve as the perfect bump-covering accessories.

Yep, if there’s one person we can count on to look fabulous while preggers, it’s La Becks. So we wait with baited breath to see how her mummy-to-be style will evolve. Stay tuned, folks!
