When Grazia Daily met Edie Campbell at the British Fashion Awards in December, we were bowled over by the Brit model’s hip style. Swathed in a gorgeous Kinder Aggugini printed maxi dress, topped off with lashings of glossy locks, she looked Sixties-perfect. Back at Grazia HQ, our burgeoning girl crush had us rifling through the archives to examine what other sartorial delights she’d offered up in 2010. And what treats awaited our hungry eyes!
You may recognise Edie’s gamine beauty from Marc by Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and Burberry campaigns (alongside a certain Kate Moss, no less), and this S/S ’11, we spotted her walking for Mark Fast and (GASP!) Chanel. It’s the perfect springboard for developing your own personal style, no? So at just 19-years-old, Edie’s wardrobe is already effortlessly quirky - sometimes with an androgynous edge, sometimes Sunday school sweet.
And her fashionable oeuvre has won the admiration of top designers too, as Matthew Williamson told Grazia, ‘I love the way she plays the beatnik vibe, with great accessories.’ Take this brilliantly simple Louise Gray striped dress, which she topped off with Dorothy-esque red shoes, for example. Or how about a trusty Mulberry satchel and baker boy cap to create a certain schoolgirl je ne sais quoi? And how to accessorize a Lanvin ♥ H&M party frock? With scruffy lace-up boots, of course! Perfection.
So with the fashion world at her feet, and Razorlight rocker Johnny Borrell on her arm, we’re placing our bets on Edith Blanche Campbell (yes, really!) being the style darling of 2011, along with the likes of Amber le Bon and Isabel Lucas. We say, watch this space.
