Ahh, how we love to hear happy news from Hollywood, and today's comes courtesy of gamine actress Natalie Portman, who has not only announced that she is pregnant, but also that she is engaged to Benjamin Millepied, an insanely hot principal dancer at the New York City Ballet, who the actress met when he was working as the choreographer on her soon-to-be-released ballet thriller Black Swan (surely that romance is a movie plot right there?). Portman said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly 'I have always kept my private life private but I will say that I am indescribably happy and feel very grateful to have this experience.'
Portman has recently appeared in a series of awesome gowns for the various global premieres for the film, looking not-pregnant-at-all, so either she's not very far gone or she's set to be one of those petite ladies who only gets a barely-there bump through her pregnancy.
Despite having barely aged since she played a teeny be-bobbed assassin's sidekick in Leon, Portman is, in fact, 29, and the announcement rounds off a stellar year for the actress, who has won Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations for her portrayal of a ballerina on the verge of a breakdown, as well as recently being revealed as the new face of Dior's iconic fragrance Miss Dior Cherie (above).
Meanwhile, the geekosphere has already started discussing the fact that Portman was said to be in the running (alongside fellow brunettes Rachel Weisz, Keira Knightley and Anne Hathaway) for the female lead in the forthcoming Batman movie, thought to be the role of Catwoman. We think it's unlikely that Hollywood is broadminded enough to let a pregnant woman don a leather catsuit, but let's wait and see.
