After we reported last month that Uncle Karl had named Haider Ackermann as his possible successor at Chanel, the man himself has opened up to W magazine about what makes him tick, the Ackermann woman and how his background influences him.
Haider talks about the Ackermann woman going through a transformation this season, saying ‘The Ackermann woman was always in the shadows—it was always kind of dark. But I’m going through a good period in my life, and there is a nonchalance where the clothes are less strangled, more relaxed.’ He also says that this season she commits an act of violence (calm down) by ‘showing that she exists—by wearing bright colors.’ Ahh.
Expanding on that ‘good period’ in his life, Ackermann remains coy, telling W ‘I may be in love’ when asked why he is so happy at the moment. Ooh!
Following rave reviews for his last collection (not to mention having fans including perennially ethereal Tilda Swinton and those comments from Karl Lagerfeld) Ackermann is in the spotlight like never before, and you can rest assured that Grazia Daily will bring you every tit bit of information about the possible future head honcho at Chanel as and when it hits the interweb.
