If you do nothing else this afternoon, you HAVE to check out these adorable shots of Elle Fanning. Yes, she is a pre-teen and okay, we know it’s a little creepy to be jealous of a 12-year-old’s style but if there’s one thing Grazia Daily loves, it’s watching a fashion icon in bloom. And this little lady is already off to a flying start, as you can see for yourselves:
Well, congrats to the Fanning clan for churning out another style savvy offspring! But Elle isn't just the li’l sis of Dakota. She's also the star of Sofia Coppola’s new flick ‘Somewhere’ (which, we hate to admit, turns out to be a disappointing snooze-fest - damn those high hopes). But what is not disappointing is the carousel of couture frocks the dinky actress has been sporting on the promo circuit. Yes, couture! At 12!
In fact, the gorgeous LBD above isn’t any old couture - it’s from Valentino’s A/W’10 catwalk, as are those dainty bow-accented heels. Oh, and who could forget the quirky Marc Jacobs creation she treated us to at September’s Venice Film Festival? And, just last night, she mixed it up by cracking out a super-hip Rodarte number for the New York premiere. You see, while Grazia Daily was rolling up our school skirt to look like Ginger Spice, Elle’s pre-teen style is spot on. There's certainly a Lolita tinge but she's free of that saccharine sweetness and yet every choice is age-appropriate. Understand the wardrobe envy now, hmm? Exactly.
So when we heard Fanning Junior was spilling the beans on all things fashwan in the latest issue of Interview magazine, Grazia Daily was first in queue to buy a copy. And after a quick read, here’s what we’ve learnt...
1. Elle likes vintage clothes: ‘in my closet there's a lot of '50s stuff.’ Brownie point un.
2. Elle likes mixing things up: ‘I wear a lot of boots...and then jeans, but I like to wear them with a really ruffly top. Or I love high-waisted anything.’ As we can see, missy! So that's brownie point deux.
3. Elle hearts Marc Jacobs: ‘He has a vintage flair,’ she says. Has Sofia ‘MJ muse’ Coppola been sharing fashion advice, we wonder? Well, that’s brownie point trois.
As for the shoot itself, tick, tick, tick! Elle is staying true to her cute-but-kooky choices with more delights from Valentino and Marc Jacobs, as well as a tweed dress from Chanel, and a 3.1 Phillip Lim trench thrown in for good measure. That's a big gold star for you, sweetkins.
And with that, Elle has just gained pace on the fast-track to Tween Queen ville. Oh, and if you’re not seeing the green eyed monster just yet, this behind-the-scenes video of the shoot should seal the deal...
