Ribbon jacket, £750, E.G. ; Grey Empire jacket, £495, Jasper Garvida
Wolf and Badger is a store like no other. From their boutique in Notting Hill, they’ve been filling up a basketful of accolades (including one of Time Out’s best new stores of 2010) as well as gathering a pied piper following of fashionistas that faithfully flock to Ledbury Road to find something different – and potentially pick up the Next Big Thing.
Tarsier ring, £280, Violet Darkling ; star bracelet, £755, Tomasz Donocik
The concept is this: over 70 independent designers can ‘own’ a space within the store – the contract is quarterly but some have loved it so much they’ve remained there since the grand opening in February. It’s a launch pad for up and coming brands, with young designers coming straight out of schools like St Martins and having the opportunity to sell their wares fresh off the sewing machine – many of which are one offs and exclusives created especially for the store. So it’s more like a lovingly curated gallery, complete with cool exhibits rather than uninspired endless rails of clothes. For those of us who consider the west of London to be practically like another county or if you live outside of London, then brilliant news cometh! Wolf and Badger (and BTW, there’s no story behind the name, co- owners brothers George & Henry Graham just liked it!) is now online. Woopa!
Red slashed sleeve top, £355, Carlotta Gherzi for Sado; Scarf, £155, Helen Ruth
So you can find labels you may recognise like Irwin and Jordan, Maria Francesca Pepe and Gil Carvalho as well as brand spanking new ones like Helen Ruth, E.G. and Tomasz Donocik.
