We've been waiting for this! Ever since Blake Lively was photographed accompanying Anna Wintour out and about at Paris Fashion Week this autumn, we just KNEW that one of those fashion designers would pounce and sign the beautiful actress up for a major ad campaign. And guess who got there first? Monsieur Lagerfeld; who, you will recall, La Lively was photographed with at the Paris Ritz for her recent fashion shoot in US Vogue. Uncle Karl is alleged to have offered Blake a megabucks modelling contract to be the new face of a Chanel handbag range; a great choice, as Lively is regularly seen (both on and off screen) carrying the house's iconic chain-strap handbags. Like 25-year-old Lily Allen, who previously fronted Chanel's advertising for its Cocoon handbag collection, 23-year-old Lively will offer a younger face to the heritage brand, connecting it with a new generation of customer.

And following another sighting of the impossibly pretty Gossip Girl in Paris on Friday, rumours are now frothing up in the blogosphere that she was in town to shoot the luxury house's handbag campaign, which is thought to be released early next year. Blake for Chanel? Genius!
