British Style 2010 Winner: Alexa Chung

08 December 2010

Alexa Chung has won the British Style Award! This one is decided entirely by public vote, so its pretty spesh. It ‘recognises an individual who embodies the spirit of British fashion and is an international ambassador for the UK as a leading creative hub for fashion.’ Despite the fact she now lives in New York, presents US TV and designs for an American label (Madewell, which is part of J Crew) AND despite the fact she wore Chanel to the Awards ceremony (not exactly best of British, although she did look extremely lovely) or maybe because of such facts, we see Alexa as flying the flag for quirky yet elegant fashion and, showing she's a true Brit, we love her for her refusal to adhere to the rules, like EVER!

Looking flushed and seeming less articulate than when presenting, Alexa, said of her award that ‘It’s amazing, it’s so lovely that people voted for me, it’s a huge honour’ When asked to speak about her personal style though, she got a bit embarrassed and said ‘I don’t know. I love Bryan Ferry [who presented the award] and I love music. I like the way boys dress and I wore the dress I’m wearing tonight because I like to look like a five year old’

Aaw. Well done Alexa! AND watch us chat to Miss Chung HERE!
