The Miu Miu opening's galaxy of stars . . .

The towering shop space on a corner of New Bond St has been standing there empty, tantalizing plastered in Miu Miu graphics for a good few months now, so the opening of the gleaming new premises was a party we were determined to pop in on, despite the freezing temperatures and the lure of the sofa, post-work on Friday.

Famous Lilys - Allen and Cole

Well, we would have certainly missed out on an orgy of opulence had we chickened out . . .  the entire store (over several floors) was a dazzlingly upholstered in greeny gold, with the ground floor given over to handbags, with gorgeous three piece suites for trying on shoes, and ready to wear up the golden stairs.

Models, including Jourdan Dunn and Kinga Rajzak, were styled up to the max in Miu Miu finery, and positioned in the shop windows like moving mannequins, which created one talking point. “I’m such a magpie, I adore these bangles,” said Jourdan to Grazia Daily, shaking her wrist, “but I don’t think I’ll be allowed to keep any.”

Impossibly good looking waiters with side-parted coifs circulated, topping up champagne in between groups of celebrities – Lily Cole with her newly gothy ‘do, Sadie Frost, Ronnie Wood, Lily Allen looking warm in a white winter coat and lovely shoe designer, Charlotte Dellal of Charlotte Olympia. Looking chic in a black evening gown, she said hello and that she had brought the ideal fashion accessory – her impossibly glam Mum, Andrea. The perfect antidote to Friday night blues.
