Good ol' Cheryl was back with a bang this weekend, wasn't she? Her carousel of more-is-more minidresses provides no end of figure-skating jokes here at Grazia HQ but this gold lace number had us gawping, not snickering, come Saturday night. Perhaps because it's from King of Glitz, Emilio Pucci, or possibly because Princess Sparkle herself, Kylie Minogue, has already given it her seal of approval (she wore it on the FROW at Milan Fashion Week in September, remember?). Or maybe we were just bowled over by those luscious locks, which have turned a Olivia Palermo shade of chestnut overnight..? We're going to say all of the above.
As for Kylie's little sis, Dannii continued her graceful trailblazing by whooshing onto the stage swathed in scarlet organza. There was a sense of the déjà vu about this one, though. Just take a look at the catwalk version for a clue as to why...
Got it yet?
Yep, fash fans, this is another high-drama creation from Australian designer, Carla Zampatti, who provided Ms Minogue with that glorious Grecian gown a few weeks ago. But quite frankly, when she looks this good, who can blame the girl for revisiting the same collection so soon? And despite the fact Saturday night's version oozed similar draped elegance and the same one shouldered flourish, the bold colour packs a punch and keeps the look fresh.
What's more, before we go blaming Dannii for repetitiveness, Cheryl's done likewise by returning to Pucci's tried-and-tested A/W '10 treats - lest we forget the designer's saucy LBD that she wore not so long ago? So, once again, these frocks represent what's fast becoming an established style dichotomy that is Dannii v Chez...
Then Sunday's show gave us another delight! Ooh, it's like an almighty Medusa v Cleopatra clash!
Firstly, Cheryl amazed us once again by ditching the scandalously short hemlines and favoured head-to-toe black for this floor-sweeping, majestic design, which comes courtesy of Gianfranco Ferré's A/W '10 collection. The streamlined skirt adorned with glinting embellishments creates a breath-taking Egyptian vibe, while the beaded bodice and plunging neckline make the most of those covetable curves. In other words: FAB.U.LOUS! She's becoming quite the little warrior, isn't she? Golden girl stylee, of course.
As for Dannii, we feel she may have been outshone this week. Just. There's no doubt her frock is a wonderful creation, unsurprisingly really considering it's from Halston's S/S '11 presentation (which is designed by genius Brit, Marios Schwab), but it means more languid draping and less, well, pizzazz. Either way, we're guessing a certain SJP would be proud of such an elegant result...
So, dear readers, it's up to YOU to decide who wins this weekend's frock war. Is this Cheryl's week style-wise or does your vote remain with Dannii? We want to hear your verdict, so get commenting below!
