Stella McCartney may not have actually been there in person – she is, after all, expected to give birth any day now – but she did make sure another British style icon was present at the annual turning on of the lights at her Bruton Street store in London last night alongside husband Alasdair and sister Mary. We are, of course, talking about Catherine Tate’s ‘Nan’ character who entertained Stella’s guests, including Alison Mosshart, Jo and Leah Wood there with Leah’s baby daughter, and Pam Hogg - with a special rendition of Bing Crosby’s ‘White Christmas’. With the Mighty Boosh as last year’s special guests and Peter Kay there the year before, it seems that the British designer has a flair for home-grown comedy. Other than knowing what women want, of course. And how to cut the perfect pair of trousers. And….you get the picture!
