It’s a brand new week and despite the fact the latest Harry Potter film has now opened nationwide and is already breaking records – surprise, surprise! – it seems the world of fashion just can’t get enough of a certain Ms Watson and who can blame them? The Brown University sophomore is continuing her relentless promotional schedule and has managed to cast a spell – sorry! – on every single journalist to sit across her and enquire about that haircut.

On Friday it was the turn of fashion bible WWD but the real surprise came when Emma actually attributed her burgeoning fashion-darling status to the same girl she managed to distance herself from with her Mia Farrow-inspired haircut; Hermione Granger. 'I have Hermione to thank, in a weird way, for my sense of style,' she said. 'Playing this role, fashion was my way of expressing myself away from that school uniform. When I got the chance to dress myself, I was so thrilled to be able to be Emma and show a different side of myself. Maybe I would never have been this interested in fashion if I hadn’t played that role for so long and sometimes felt so constrained by being identified with her so much,' she continued. And it seems that the list of things not to do was getting pretty long for the young actress. 'I mean, I just wasn’t allowed to do anything: wasn’t allowed to cut my hair, put on nail varnish, tan, wear a bra that made my boobs in any way look [larger], have any flesh showing, wear any makeup when I was playing Hermione. Fashion was my rebellion.' If any proof was needed – and we very much doubt it – just last week’s rotation of appearances impressive enough to make Hermione look up from whichever ancient book she’s reading (if she was a real character, of course!) makes us think the rebellion has been successful!
