Let's forget Wagner vs Cheryl and Paige against Cher for a moment, please - we want to talk fashion. Because, really, that's what it’s all about. Yes, while the singing provided some nice background noise, Grazia Daily was busy studying the X Factor fash-off, and for Saturday's show it was a battle of the long and the short. While Dannii Minogue opted for a no-fuss floor-sweeper, Cheryl Cole sported a glitzy thigh-grazer. Let's examine the goods...
Ooh, lookey here! Another Saturday night, another Dannii Dress Triumph. While Cheryl went the maximalist route (again), the Australian kept it simple and super-slinky thanks to the luxurious powers of Gucci. We're loving the sumptuous chocolatey colour of her silk crepe gown from the super brand's Pre-Fall 2010 collection, and that gold metal detail on the halter neckline adds an interesting touch. It's impossible to go wrong, right? The sophistication was amped up by her cross-over hair do and those classy Annoushka earrings. Basically, the whole thing = awesome.
And here's our Chez. Well, what a treat this fiesty little number is for the glitter-hungry magpies among us - it's literally dripping with eye-watering spangliness and sharp embellishments. So although the shoulder pads stayed on the catwalk, the overall effect is armour-esque edginess ('blinging' it on is the perfect choice for a Wagner attack, dontcha think?). And we're happy to report this frock continues Cheryl's championing of lesser-known designers as it's from husband and wife team, Falguni and Shane Peacock. As for those long locks, aren't they a huge improvement on last week's style? We say a resounding yes. Imitating Rihanna rather than Minnie Mouse can only be a good thing after all. Well done, pet.
Although she avoided 'Strictly Come Dancing' chic for the Results show, Cheryl stuck to the fighter theme by following it up with this ivory and crystallised BodyAmr gown. The Geordie lass has long been a fan of the cult London label and just a few weeks ago, she wore a body-hugging sparkler from the same S/S '11 collection. Last night's number was more grown-up - glamorous but punky, elegant yet youthful. Hmm, has she been taking a cue from Dannii who bowled us over last week with a similar toga-esque design?
Speaking of Ms Minogue, just when we were convinced the girl can do no wrong, her tiered creation caught us off guard. With eyes squinted and nose crinkled, Grazia Daily asks - is it too ruffly or just ruffled enough? We can't decide... And that's where YOU come in!
So what are your thoughts on this weekend's X Factor offerings? The box below awaits your verdict. Go, go, go!
