We meet Carine Roitfeld at the Armani party!

19 November 2010

Now, we’re certainly not a load of name droppers here at Grazia Daily but, O to the M to the G, last night we went to a party hosted Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld and Andy Valmorbida for New York artist, Richard Hambleton’s exhibition at the Dairy in lovely WC1. And all thanks to Giorgio Armani. We’ve been to plenty of private views before but this one was NOTHING like you’d usually expect. Instead of a normal sized room with a few paintings or photos around, the Dairy is the size of an aircraft hanger, with a fleet of waiters bearing white wine and Russian Standard vodka on ice (!) and THE coolest guest list ever and an atmosphere that was so much fun it was almost indecent for a Thursday night.

Craig Laurence and the team from Machine A, Holly Fulton, Pam Hogg, Lara Stone and David Walliams all turned out and in another reversal of convention – Vladimir’s mom turned up, making the party EVEN cooler! (Well, his Mum is Carine Roitfeld, editor in chief of French Vogue. We caught up with her for a sneaky 3 minute natter:

Grazia Daily: Hello Carine, how are you? Are you in London for long?

Carine Roitfeld: No, not long just for tonight for the party. I am admiring the paintings!

GD: Do you like coming over here? Have you got any favourite places in London, like to go and eat or go shopping?

CR: No, I never have time to shop. I would like to, but I don’t have time. I really like London fashion though. You have so many brilliant young designers. We are coming back next week to shoot 10 of the best London designers for the magazine.

GD: That’s brilliant! Can you tell us any names?

CR: Mary Katrantzou is one. She is one of my favourites, her clothes are incredible!

We think we have melted a little bit!
