Tom Ford for Paris Vogue - will ANY clothes be allowed?

17 November 2010

Now. We all know that September is the JANUARY of fashion, but did you know that magazines sales often drop off a little in actual January, causing editors to come up with ruses, or extra special cover stars to try and pull the sales up as much as they can. Paris Vogue is no exception and previous years have seen Sofia Coppola, Catherine Deneuve and even Kate Moss as guest editors. Now this year Carine Roitfeld is pulling an old friend and loooong-time collaborator out of the bag: loosen your blouses girls, it's Tom Ford! Yay! Enjoying a kind of career resurgence himself at the moment, with his eponymous label and second film going into production.

Carine and Tom have helped each other with various bits over the years – as a stylist she was his right hand woman at Gucci and YSL, and understandably their paths have crossed numerous times since then. We are excited to imagine what the pair of them will come up with in the way of shoots. Tom Ford is renown for his too-naughty ads (like Sophie Dahl naked for YSL perfume Opium or the Gucci logo shaved into a brave model's, err, lady garden for another fragrance ad, not to mention THAT Vanity Fair cover) Meanwhile Carine also has form for stirring up controversy with her image making skills – Lara Stone in blackface makeup or Eva Herzigova dressed as a butcher covered in blood, anyone?

What on earth must they be plotting? Rumour has it Tom will be on the cover, but who with? (Or will he wear one of his own dresses in the style of Marc Jacobs?) AND will anyone be allowed to cover themselves up at ALL? Blimey!
