This is music to our ears...according to the star of his debut feature film, A Single Man, Tom Ford has a new film project in the works. And actor Colin Firth has revealed that the fashion-designer-turned-film-director-turned-fashion-designer-turned-film-director has already begun work on the new movie, but says '...he won't give anything away to me about what the film is. I know, whatever it is, it's gonna be very different from A Single Man'.
We wonder if this could hint at a departure for Ford's from the much-lauded but glossily-stylish aesthetic seen in his 1960s-set debut movie? Is Ford about to get... gritty?
It certainly seems incredible that, in the same year that Ford has made his long-awaited, and highly secretive (but much leaked) return to designing women's ready-to-wear, he should also be starting pre-production on the follow-up to his critically-acclaimed debut feature film. Over-achieving, much ?
All this AND he always manages to look like a male model. We're impressed. Of course, Grazia is currently rubbing exquisitely-tailored shoulders with Mr Ford as we act as fellow judges on the jury for Bafta's 2010 Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award, so we'll be sure to nudge him for further details the next time we hang out.
Meanwhile, Firth obviously enjoyed his experience working with the first-time director, saying of Ford's new film; 'I'm jealous of whoever's going to be in it.' We'll put in a good word for you, Colin.
