Mary Katrantzou wins the Swiss Textiles Award!

05 November 2010

A huge congratulations from Grazia Daily HQ to the fantastic Mary Katrantzou for winning the covetable Swiss Textiles Award last night! The Greek-born and London-based designer fought off competition from Jason Wu, Damir Doma and Duro Olowu among others to be awarded the 100,000-euro prize in a presentation in Zurich.

We fell in love with her beautiful S/S '11 collection during London Fashion Week and her playful but chic interior-inspired prints (we never imagined we’d one day covet a lampshade skirt but oh, how we do!) and we weren’t the only ones. “"I'm stunned. It was such a big build up and I cried backstage so I think that says it all”, said Katrantzou after she was presented with the award from last year’s recipient, Alexander Wang. We already expected great things from Mary and with the financial support from an award that’s undoubtedly helped other designers in the past – like Rodarte and Marios Schwab, we can hardly wait. Congrats, Mary!
