Gap-toothed beauty and Mrs David Walliams, Lara Stone, has successfully sued French Playboy for publishing pictures of her without her permission in June of this year. 'Playboy had no right to publish these unauthorised photographs,' Lara explained. 'It's not the kind of publication I would ever choose to appear in. I feel I have no option but to take steps to protect my reputation.' Said the model at the time she brought the case.
Although she has made a name for herself for accepting quite bizarre briefs when it comes to fashion editorial – like being ‘blacked up’ (for French Vogue) or appearing with a gang of male models in a Calvin Klein ad that was banned in Australia for being suggestive of rape and violence, and even told one interviewer “I think naughty shoots suit my personality”, she draws the line at Playboy. Even though she was happy for the shots to be taken for posh undies brand, Victoria's Secret, it seems that having them published in an, ahem, non-fashion magazine was not acceptable. While some would argue that fashion shoots have moved closer to porn in their aesthetic, it seems to a girl like Lara, that context is everything.
Ah well, Lara is doing well enough to pick and choose her projects. Back in the day supers like Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Elle MacPherson, Christy Turlington and more all posed for Playboy.
