Christopher Bailey is launching a Burberry Acoustic album, Gucci has joined forces with the Grammys, and Kate Moss is the face of Bryan Ferry’s latest album. Yes, the worlds of fashion and music continue to merge more than ever. And today, we have more music for your ears. Florrie Arnold, the bright new songstress on the scene, has spoken of being Nina Ricci’s latest princess - and Grazia Daily feels a serious girl crush coming on. For starters, check out her deliciously fairytale-esque fragrance ad for L’Exir below:
Well, doesn’t she make an adorable Alice in Wonderland, singing amongst the apple trees? With Natasha Poly's kittenish looks and that Diane Kruger-like wide-eyed charm, we reckon Florrie’s the perfect fit for the Parisian house famous for it’s dreamy romance crossed with teenage rebellion. ‘I thought it was just doing the music,’ she said this morning of the twinkly song which accompanies the campaign. ‘I didn’t realise it was to be the face of the brand until later.’ Well, when you’re a girl of many talents, why not go the whole hog and create an ad-meets-music-video? As the starlet says, ‘Perfume might not have anything to do with music but it can only be good for me as a new artist’. And Grazia Daily couldn’t agree more.
Intrigued? You should be. Grazia Daily first became a Florrie fan back in August when we raved about her effortless yet glossy grooming in our study of the hip new muso-crew. Then we drooled over her fifties style at Marc Jacobs’ Bang bash, before finally meeting her at the launch of Susie Bick and Bella Freud’s fashion collaboration last month (we haven’t been stalking her, honest). In fact, Bick and Freud also tapped into Florrie’s genius, employing her as the slinky ingénue in their film for the line. And now that she’s followed in Zoe Kravitz’s footsteps by nailing the high profile perfume ad, we’ll be seeing much more of the chic rock ‘n’ roller...
So folks, this means it’s time to wise up, sharpish. To bring you up to speed, we’ve compiled the facts you need to know about the lovely Florrie Arnold:
- she’s a 21 year old Brit from Bristol
- she played her first ever gig, aged 7, dressed as a fish
- she’s a singer, songwriter, guitarist and drummer (how cool?)
- her first job was playing drums for The Promise by Girls Aloud
- her music is described as robotic, chunky and svelte
- you can download her tunes (for free!) on her website, Florrie.com
- oh, and she was FROW at Chanel's S/S '11 show, and if she’s good enough for Karl, she’s good enough for us...
