FIRST LOOK: Christina Hendricks Scores a High Fashion Shoot!

07 October 2010

Ever since Grazia put Christina Hendricks on our cover, you’ve written to us in your bucket loads, happy to see such a magnificently curvy female fronting a fashion magazine. And looky here! Now US magazine Harpers Bazaar has hopped on the bandwagon with its new issue. Yes, Terry Richardson has photographed everyone’s favourite modern Marilyn and we're mightily impressed to see her in such a sophisticated shoot. Because this proves Hendricks ain’t just a TV star; she’s a style icon with the most fashionable figure around. And she can pull off super-stylish gear with serious aplomb. Here’s the proof:

With that porcelain complexion, bold lipstick and voluptuous curves, the Mad Men actress has come to epitomize female foxiness, so what better way to amp up her empowering image than styling her as a fiesty bank robber? Genius!

Although her famous bosoms are wrapped away in a Michael Kors gown for the cover shot, the spread sees her flaunting her 39D-30-39 hourglass in a combination of Stella McCartney, Dolce & Gabbana, YSL, Dior and Valentino monochrome. And isn't the shoot restrained by Terry’s standards? We’d have expected Richardson + Hendricks = a buxom sleaze-fest, but the photographer is clearly taming his ways after those explosive allegations. Besides, we’re very happy to see Christina posing fully-clothed rather than in say, nothing but a carefully-placed kitten... ahem.

Of course, this is just the latest in a long line of triumphs for the sultry redhead. Hendricks recently joined the likes of Gisele by becoming the face for mac merchants London Fog, and now she’s been shot for such a high profile publication by Richardson himself, who’s worked with uber-models including Kate Moss, surely a top notch campaign is only a skirt’s swish away (pleeease make it happen!).

What’s more, as we all know from the A/W ’10 trends, boobs are back - thumbs up indeed, folks! Plus, this season has seen Crystal Renn’s catwalk crusade, Beth Ditto’s appearance on Jean Paul Gaultier’s runway, and a NYFW show for plus sized women, so there’s no doubt the fashion industry is embracing the curvier shape. And Grazia Daily can’t think of a better celebrity to lead the way...

But what say you about Christina’s new shoot? Get involved below.
