OOOH LA LA! What a magnifique display we see before us. KATE MOSS in leather! LARA STONE's wonderful pins! GERI HALLIWELL is here! (er, what?) Yes, fellow FROW-watchers, say ‘bonjour’ to this weekend’s Best Dressers from the fashion front line in Gay Pareeey. And allez!
Naturellement, we begin with the mega-models. Lara and Kate were French chic personified as they tottered about the Parisian streets in super sleek ensembles, topped off with little more than superstar shades and ladylike bags. C'est bon! Is Lara in town for a spot of modelling on the PFW catwalks, we wonder? What we do know is that Mossy kicked off her PFW experience with a show of moral support for John Galliano, causing quite the stir when she arrived on the Dior FROW in a saucy leather skirt and shearling coat (check out how to nail her look here).
But it’s the true Frenchies who really show ‘em how it’s done. And who better to take the lead than Jane Birkin’s daughters? First up it’s Lou Doillon, who joined Kate at the Dior show in a humongous wool plaid coat thrown over a lacey LBD, which she teamed with grey knee high socks and tough boots. Meanwhile, Lou’s half-sister, Charlotte Gainsbourg arrived at Balenciaga also sporting a dash of autumnal grey but allowing her leggy legs, under that lime green mini-skirt, to steal the show.
And onto the US contingent, represented by Rachel Bilson. So far this season, R.Bilz has done a fine job at nabbing the fashion week crown - from swathing herself in leopard print for Cavalli to rocking teeny shorts in NY - and her recent appearance at the Dior show really seals the deal. Seriously, how beautiful is her pink silk frock from the S/S ‘10 catwalk? Tres feminine, we say.
It goes without saying that we can always count on good ol’ Dita Von Teese to crack out some corkers to impress her fave designer chum. We saw her pour those curves into eye-popping head-to-toe leather for John Galliano’s couture show earlier this year (remember?) and for his latest extravaganza, DVT chose a less risqué, but equally spellbinding, ensemble. Has she been taking inspiration from a lacey and racy Miss Marple, circa 1940?
You might think being preggers would put Lily Allen off from jaunting about the shows, but au contraire! Proving dedication to the fashwan cause, here’s the little popstrel taking her seat at the Givenchy show alongside none other than Ronnie Wood! Kitted out in a bump-flattering and of-the-moment black coat, Lils looks every inch the expert stylista, and now that she’s in town, we wait with baited breath to see her at BFF Karl’s show later this week...Cross all crossables, folks!
And talking of surprise appearances, we finish with this little corker. Yes, it’s Geri Halliwell making her way to the Viktor and Rolf show. Um, is ‘Ginger Spice’ the design duo’s new muse? That would be brilliant! Click here to see what she had to say after the show...
So with our old favourites alongside a dollop of newbies, and a fair few 'WTF?!' moments cramming onto the Parisian FROWs, who ever could be next to arrive? While we wait, let us know who’s your favourite belle of PFW so far, s'il vous plaît.
