Apparently the squiggle print on Alexander Wang S/S ’11 jackets was designed by the interns working in his studio! How nice that Mr Wang is running such a democratic system at his studio - where all ideas are welcome. We thought that interns' job was to be stitchy, coffee-fetching slaves, not to provide their creative input into the label.
According to the Styleite blog; 'Wang had his interns sit and draw whatever they felt like for several minutes, with no other specific directions.'
THEN, come the catwalk show, the students could see their own handiwork re-created on a jacket and other pieces! Yikes! Look at the print and let us know what you think. Do those students have a bright future ahead of them?
Doodle-y, hand-drawn prints seem to be enjoying a moment just now, with Alexa’s self-authored Hello Bat T-shirt for her Madewell line AND Marc Jacobs’ doodle-print flip-flops.
