Last night we rubbed shoulders with none other than Anna Wintour. Yes, our shoulder actually brushed the slim and black-fur-clad shoulder of Miss Wintour herself as she swept into Annabel’s for the party to launch Detmar Blow’s book about his late wife Isabella Blow.
Issie used to work as Anna’s assistant at American Vogue, so she became very close to the Blows and continued to be an admirer of the zany stylist throughout her unusual and erratic life. “I am so proud that Issie’s life has become such a source of fascination for people,” said Detmar once Anna had left him to go and hide herself in the a private booth, “It is her legacy – it’s owed to her.”
We spoke to the gorgeous Lara Bohinc who was wearing knitwear by Central Saint Martins alum Simone Shailes (who has now gone to work for Phoebe Philo). “I wish she would do another collection,” she moaned, “I bought everything in the last one – do you think we could campaign to bring her back?”
Rather bizarrely, Chris Eubank was there, carrying a glamorous Louis Vuitton portfolio with him. What does he carry in it? “Junk. It just builds up and I never empty it out so there’s nothing of any use in there.” We have it on good authority however, that the portfolio is stuffed with ready-signed pictures of himself to give out to fans.
Editors, artists (Tracey Emin arrived just after the speeches and threw her arms around author Tom Sykes), and even royalty (there was a foreign princess in the crowd somewhere) mingled over mini bottles of Moet and the prettiest canapés we’ve seen all fashion week. It was a rather salubrious end to another great week of parties. Next stop Milano!
