Grazia Daily arrived backstage at the Peter Pilotto show at 8am this morning (!) armed, naturellement, with a ginormous coffee. The show is being held at the Topshop venue in the old Eurostar station where the rising sun is flooding in through the glass roof, really making it feel like Spring Summer, despite the chill. So let's take a look at what's been going down, shall we?
For starters, we're happy to see more disco-tastic-ness courtesy of the metallic shadow in the inner corners of the models' eyes. As for the hair, it's being swept over the ears into a loose bun, currently being held in place by, er, playing cards. Nifty!
Also in the beauty area, we've spotted a deep red tone being painted on the models' nails. Tres sophisticated, no? Are Peter and Christopher going for a more mature approach for spring summer, we wonder?
Venturing into Camp Fashion, we find the backstage team busy steaming and ironing the long dresses with great care. No panics here, then (yet).
So far, we're seeing a generous helping of elegant maxis and a LOT of blue in contrasting mixes of duck egg blue and a gorgeous electric blue. We have an inkling this is going to be a good'un...
Ooh, we'll have a pair of those, please! The chunky heels, designed by shoe GOD Nicholas Kirkwood, are bursting with colour; from a variety of blues on the printed panels, to gold straps, and yellow heels. Just FAB!
Aw! We've just spotted Peter's mother sporting the Kipling bag the designers have just created. Good ol' mum!
Here's a closer look at what we've got to look forward to. The collection oozes chic minimalism, doesn't it? The palette is so refreshing and vibrant, enhanced by coral and peachy shades. And we've just been told that, as with past seasons, the designers have been inspired by nature, particularly the wind.
Peter and Christopher are here! And guess what? They perfectly match the collection with their navy outfits (that's Christopher in the hat, btw). Oh, and they look amazingly calm. See? They're smiling and everything!
WOW! Check out these printed trousers for a brilliant burst of red. The design duo have been inspired by the 1970s (yes! that era again), especially Yves St Laurent...
It's almost showtime! The models are taking their places in the line-up, looking like a beautiful waterfall of flowing silks when grouped together.
'Get me the scissors!' Christopher cries. Oop, what was that we said about calm? Up until now, the atmosphere has been super-relaxed but as the models prepare to take to the catwalk, the designers spot a hemline that's just waaay too long. Yikes!
Blimey! The seamstresses are still frantically stitching. QUICK, not long now, guys!
A smidge more silver eyeshadow before you're off perhaps? Yes please!
There's just time for some final touch-ups before the girls are good to go. Yes, the show must go on and, as expected, the collection is beyond beautiful and received with a rapturous applause. Here's what Peter and Christopher had to say after the show...
