Heads up style watchers! Grazia Daily is back with another dose of our favourite fashionistas gracing the front rows over in New York. So take note, people, and don’t forget to let us know who wins today’s battle of the FROW-ers... Then London, here we come!
We begin with a yikes! Yes, avert your eyes, dear readers, for here’s a cringe-worthy moment of fash-off proportions. After Poppy Delevigne and Caroline Sieber stepped out in NYC wearing matchy-matchy red frocks this weekend (remember?), Olivia Palermo and Kelly Brook suffered a similar fate yesterday. Because when both ladies arrived at the Marchesa presentation sporting sumptuous red frocks with frou-frou shoulder detailing, we were clutching our pearls in horror (and secretly relishing the style showdown, natch). But of course, we don’t like to choose favourites here on Grazia Daily but if we reeeeally had to pick, the Best Dressed crown would be awarded to Olivia for those grey lace-up boots, which keep the look of-the-moment and casual-cool, in comparison to Kelly’s peep toes that are too much of a satin-overload for the fashion show, n’est pas? (Please let us know if we’re being unfair though, fellow analysts.)
The Marchesa presentation also saw Kelly Osbourne, Rachel Zoe and Jessica Szhor arriving in various shades of splendour, perfectly reflecting the romanticism of Georgina Chapman’s latest collection. So what have we got? Glorious feminine ruffles on Ms O, luxurious black silk on La Zoe, and shimmering metallics on Jess, courtesy of her Sandra-Bullock-at-the-Oscars dress-a-like. Good show, girls!
As for the rest of the day’s FROW-ers, we bring you Leighton Meester who’s clearly a mahoosive fan of Proenza Schouler (c’mon, she is only human). The Gossip Girl has secured a VIP spot at the designer’s show for the last two seasons, so it was no surprise to see her cosying up alongside Courtney Love for the presentation of their S/S ‘11 collection. In keeping with that, er, rather questionable fashion sense we’ve seen her flaunting before, Leighton made like Cher in ‘Clueless’ by flashing her abs in an ensemble Grazia Daily would’ve sported in say, hm, 1989.
And yes, you heard that right, La Love was also in the crowd looking surprisingly demure in her modest shift dress and, shock horror, lady-like red gloves. So this has us wondering - what with Grace Jones keeping it low-key earlier in the week, and now our Courts ditching her usual crazy old cat lady look for one of such poise, has NY turned the style stakes all topsy-turvy? We’ll keep you posted.
And she’s back! As a loyal Phillip Lim fan, Alexa Chung arrived at the show faultlessly executing a nun-like frock of ankle-skimming length, topped off with a colour-popping pink Chanel bag. Oh if only we had such a God-given gift of always knowing the right thing to wear... Darn it.
And lookey here, an unexpected arrival appeared at the Phillip Lim show in the fine form of Coco Rocha. The model and newly-wed made the most of her leggy legs with a pair of O-T-K boots and a sophisticated blazer. All that’s needed is a slick of orange lippy to keep her kookiness alive.
So there you have it, lovelies. Now it’s time to tell us what YOU make of the FROW’s latest looks. Edgy, or falling off the edge? We can’t wait to read your verdict in the box below...
