Italian brand Pollini has appointed shoe maestro Nicholas Kirkwood as Creative Director – he was previously in charge of their shoes, but has now been promoted in part of a re-think of the company’s brief. The label, (which is part of the Aeffe SpA company which also manufactures Alberta Ferretti, Moschino, Jean Paul Gaultier and Cacharel) is now phasing out apparel to concentrate on its “core accessories business".
Huge congratulations to man of the moment, Mr Kirkwood, who has just seen his collaboration with Rodarte received with great acclaim by everyone plus literally NEVER being off the feet of A-listers like SJP, Kylie and Jessica Alba. Well done, Nicholas - and it goes without saying that we are excited to bits about the next Pollini collection, which will be unveiled at Milan Fashion Week at the end of the month.
By way of a celebration, Pollini will be collaborating with five ready-to-wear designers (from Preen to Meadham Kirchhoff, Michael Van der Ham, Louise Gray and Manish Arora), personally selected by Nicholas, for whom Pollini will collaboratively design and produce their S/S ’11 fashion show shoes, as part of the “Pollini Forward Designers” project, which is excellent news for all concerned.
