Poor old Sarah Jessica Parker. When we heard back in January (was it REALLY that long ago?) that she had been appointed President of Halston Heritage, we imagined her role to be chiefly WEARING the clothes, on and off the SATC2 screen, with perhaps the odd interview and photoshoot to promote the brand. How wrong we were. At the Halston mainline show (designed by London favourite Marios Schwab and separate from the lower priced Heritage range) SJP was all smiles, explaining to the surrounding editors just how rigorously the brand have been putting her through her paces.
According to the actress her role is 'everything that a president generally conventionally does in this particular industry, from talking about prints and sourcing and hiring and marketing to the direction for spring/summer 2011 for the Heritage collection to our licensing partnerships and how we want to pursue that.'
Going into even greater detail, she went on, 'Profit margins; sourcing; what factories work where in all sorts of parts of the world; how soon we can get tiny sequins — you know, sequins that are one-eighth versus one-sixteenth of an inch; can we get a swatch of fabric that ombrés? Can we get a real silk tulle versus a blend? This is what I've been learning about.' Gosh!
Not that SJP is complaining though, 'It is a wonderful, thrilling challenge, and there is a lot to draw on, and incredibly exciting archives. I'm delighted.'
Before modestly declining the opportunity to say whether or not she was doing a good job; 'I don't think it's my place to describe how it's going. I think that's for anybody else to comment on or not, frankly.'
Oh, and her new working hours; remember she is doing this during a break between movies in her
Gadzooks! Halston are certainly getting their money’s worth out of their new boss! She'll be sewing the sequins on herself next!
