Here’s an easy equation for you this morning: MTV + GAGA = FUN! Dominating last night’s Video Music Awards, not just with an impressive roll call of nominations and final gaggle of awards, but, of course, with her looks on the red carpet and on-stage she did not disappoint! Lady Gaga arrived in a stunning Alexander McQueen gown and the McQueen armadillo heels that appear to have become a favourite of hers, and Daphne Guinness.
Although the dress was not presented as part of the designer’s last collection in Paris, it does bear a striking resemblance to his A/W '10 designs. The beautiful gown, which Gaga first wore in the September issue of Vanity Fair, has an embellished neckline and voluminous layers, printed with the same digital images of Old Master paintings and photographs of angels that took our breath away when we first saw them earlier this year. The contrasting ruffles of tulle that peeked underneath seemed to match the tips of Gaga’s hair, proving that in her usual fashion, Lady Gaga doesn’t put on a gown, she wears it!
